Story of August | Eason and how to save costs in Development
Cinnamon would be nothing without our talented members who devote their best at work to build a strong foundation and grow at a fast pace. Therefore, we would like to introduce you to some behind-the-scene stories to get to know us — as a company and as a collective of champs. The first one this month is Eason from Cinnamon AI Taiwan.
Eason is currently in charge of leading QAS and SE team in Taiwan, working on log mechanism with VN SEs and also the owner of a new project that is very confidential, so we all agree to call it Ninja project. This workload seems to be impossible for anyone, but Eason is trying to balance his own resource. However, he still has some struggles (such as remote management of the QAS team and internal/external communication of Ninja team) that require him to stretch a lot.
For remote management of QAS team issues, Eason has regular 1-on-1 and group meeting to share knowledge as well as taking feedback for improvement. This is the chance for him to answer any question from members and figure out solutions for current issues. Another challenge for Eason is the internal & external communication of the Ninja team. As a new team has been formed, it’s an obvious difficulty to keep everyone on the same page — not to mention to maintain an inspiration to work and keep moving forward. Therefore, Eason found a way to keep a good relationship with everyone in the team, to make sure that they have a clear goal and to share with others all the ups and downs — but more importantly, learn first then question later. As the owner of Ninja project, Eason understands the importance of showing the values as the role model for others as well as supporting the needs of others.
One crucial issue for every business, especially startups is the costs. Getting a company off the ground requires efforts and, of course, costs never disappear from the list of challenges. Even if we have a large capital, we still need to skimp unnecessary expenses, as we grow business might face unexpected costs.
Cinnamon is no exception. Under the topic of Cinnamon global All-hands meeting in August to be “cost-saving”, how to save cost as Development department? Eason has a short answer for it: consolidate, standardize and make things consistent. Hereby, the Development team can save more hardware and human effort and increase response time and quality of the project.
